An Automotive Adventure
Welcome Vintage cars, Classic cars, and Sporting cars of all types!
Experience the nostalgia of your automobile in motion, while discovering our regions' beauty and unique points of interest with the first running of the Albemarle Classic. This pleasure driving road rallye & tour plans to provide club drivers and individual car enthusiasts alike an opportunity to get in their treasured vehicles and go!
Drift back in time - to an era not long ago - where men sporting fedoras and women in soft silky scarves enjoyed long leisurely drives through the countryside. The Albemarle Classic is a sporting and social event that celebrates the glorious automobiles of yesterday and today.
This rallye & tour is not just an automotive adventure. There will be plenty of magnificent motorcars to ooh and aah over and enough motor sporting excitement to keep the entire family entertained for a fun afternoon.
Tracing portions of the original southern Chesapeake Route 17 and Carolina’s Historic Albemarle Highway, this first annual event takes participating motorists on a 110 mile trek through the beauty and splendor this historic region has to offer.
The Rallye Event
Whether you belong to a club or have a special vehicle tucked away in the garage, we hope you’ll bring a companion and come out to share in an event that revives the nostalgia of an era gone by.
The Albemarle Classic Rallye & Tour is a driving tour on well paved public roads and has been created to become an annual family event to remember. It is not a race. Participants are encouraged (and some will be awarded) to dress in period with their sporting attire that may include driving caps, goggles and scarves that may capture the era of days gone by.
Participants will gather at the centrally located Virginia Beach Town Center. Promptly at 10AM drivers and passengers will depart on a 110-mile journey to the historic town of Elizabeth City nestled on the point of North Carolina's Albemarle Sound and back again. Four stops along the way only add to the fun and appreciation of unique points of interest. Gourmet boxed lunches are provided.
The event is scheduled to take approximately 4 hours, and brings participants back to where they started for a toast to all involved and awards ceremony.
The Concours Event
Back at the paddocks, concours participants will have an opportunity to safely present their vehicles to event visitors and the general public.
This is a non-sanctioned concours event. Vehicles will be informally judged. Placement is on a first-come first-served basis, and the event presentation is for general public viewing and concours participant camaraderie.
Concours participants receive event sponsor packets and are invited to attend the closing award ceremony and celebration.
